Media Release - Budget 23-24 Wilton Junction To Get New Primary School and Upgrades to Wilton Public School

Judy Hannan MP today has welcomed the announcement that funding has been allocated for a brand new primary school at Wilton Junction in the 2023-24 NSW State Budget, presented on Tuesday 19th 2023. A total of $2.806 million has been included for the new school.

“This news is a step in the right direction for the infrastructure required at Wilton. I have lobbied ministers consistently during my time in office to bring attention to the lack of infrastructure in the developments in the growth areas of Wollondilly” said Judy Hannan MP.

In addition, Wilton Public school is to receive a total of $22.385 million funding for much needed upgrades.

“Wilton is set to experience a growth in population in the coming years, and the upgrades to the existing primary school will ensure that the residents do not miss out on the quality education facilities that they deserve” said Judy Hannan MP.

“I thank the Minister for Education the Hon. Prue Car MP and Premier Minns for prioritising the education needs of the growth areas in South Western Sydney in this budget announcement. I look forward to the opening of the new primary school at Wilton Junction, and to seeing the improvements and changes at Wilton Public school ” said Judy Hannan MP.

“While the need for primary schools has been recognised in the budget, there is still a lack of high schools in my electorate. Wollondilly has only two public high schools to cover an area of over 3,000 square kilometres. With the growth areas bringing a population increase over the coming years a new high school must be prioritised. I will continue to advocate for more high schools in Wollondilly, and I look forward to working with the Minister and Premier to make this happen” said Judy Hannan MP.

“Having the new Primary School at Wilton Junction is a great first step in getting the project delivery. It’s time things like this are done right, planned and accounted for to ensure the projects are delivered regardless of which party is in Government” concluded Judy Hannan MP.
