Media Release - Improved safety with school zone extension at Old Hume Highway, Remembrance Driveway and Olive Lane, Tahmoor.

5/02/2026

Students attending Wollondilly Anglican College will be afforded additional safety with the 40 kilometre per hour school zone being extended north along Remembrance Driveway to include Olive Lane and end near the Tahmoor Colliery.

In addition, new flashing school zone signage will be installed while other signage will be moved and upgraded to reflect the extended zone.

This work will improve safety for road users and pedestrians by extending the area covered by the school zone, make the speed limit signage easier to see during school hours near the growing Wollondilly Anglican College.

The upgrade was deemed necessary because of the expansion at Wollondilly Anglican College.  A new drop and pick up point have been provided off Olive Lane for students attending the College.

As such a new school zone is being installed in Olive Lane. The existing school zone on Remembrance Drive is being extended to the north to cover the intersection of Olive Lane for this new access point.

To deliver this Transport workers will be at site for up to two-night shifts between Sunday 15 February and Thursday 26 February 2026, weather permitting.

Working hours will be from 8pm to 4am, Sunday to Thursday.

When completed, the school zone will operate between 7:30am and 9.30am, and 2.30pm and 4pm on school days.

There will be temporary traffic changes while we complete this work. This includes lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h.

MEMBER FOR WOLLONDILLY JUDY HANNAN SAID:

“I am pleased the NSW Government has reviewed the Wollondilly Anglican College school zone and will proceed with expanding the school zone. Safety is our priority.”

“The school zones would raise awareness of additional traffic on Remembrance Drive and an additional access point on Olive Lane.”
