Welcoming the full list of the the 2024 State Voluntary Planning Agreements, Judy Hannan MP said, “Thanks to our successful lobbying, Wollondilly has received the highest funding for an individual area and the fund this year has grown from $28 million to $55.7 million, of these funds Wollondilly received $26.1 million.
“The targeted approach of the Government in approving projects in areas that are receiving growth makes sense. It is a shame it has taken so long as these funds have existed since 2005 with a running total of $209 million. To date Wollondilly received just $1.6 million that was spent on planning for Wilton and the freeway interchange at Picton Road” said Judy Hannan MP.
“Thanks to the new funding method Wollondilly has received 46% of this year's total funding. Based on how many homes are being built right now there are needs for the community that is growing. I cannot wait to see the new recreation space in Thirlmere for the new homes and the long promised new building for Thirlmere Oval that will bring women’s change facilities that the clubs have been calling for. Further north, the growth around Silverdale as well as the airport just over the border has seen an explosion of our sport club membership and the new clubhouse in Warragamba will help house the user groups” said Judy Hannan MP.
Mayor of Wollondilly Matt Gould welcomed the funding “I am pleased to see that the significant growth we’re seeing in Wollondilly has been acknowledged and we will receive this important funding from Stage 4 of the Voluntary Planning Agreement funding program. With Wollondilly consistently meeting our housing targets, it is essential that we have the infrastructure in place to support our growing population.”
“I’d like to thank the NSW Government for allocating this funding to help Council provide for the needs of our residents and I look forward to getting these essential projects under way across the Shire. I look forward to continuing to work together with the NSW Government and our local member Judy Hannan to provide much-needed infrastructure support as we continue to create healthy and happy communities in the Wollondilly Shire” said Mayor Matt Gould.
