Community Recognition - Engaging Young Women in Non-Traditional Trades

19th September 2023.

Engaging Young Women in Non-Traditional Trades.

I would like to recognise the exceptional efforts of Wollondilly Shire Council in securing a Youth Opportunities Grant from the Department of Communities and Justice for their project, "Engaging Young Women in Non-Traditional Trades." This initiative aims to empower local young women by offering them FREE training in the trade industry. Through comprehensive modules covering essential skills, such as Yellow Card (Traffic Control), White Card (Workplace Health and Safety Induction), Chemqual (Chemicals), Senior First Aid, Employment Preparation, and Resume Writing, these talented individuals will gain the necessary skills for a successful trade career. The Council is committed to providing a supportive environment and ensuring safety by providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Additionally, they will collaborate with My Gateway to help participants access traineeships and apprenticeships. This project is a wonderful example of empowering youth and breaking down barriers. Congratulations to Wollondilly Shire Council for their dedication to creating opportunities and promoting gender equality.
