Wollondilly Basketball Association's Night of Triumph.
I would like to recognise the exceptional achievements celebrated at the Wollondilly Basketball Association Inc Razorbacks' presentation night, held last Month at the Wilton. With an impressive turnout of 350 attendees, the event was a reflection of the community's support for local basketball talent. Sophie Connor, just 12 years old, was honoured as "Rep of the Year." A player in the under-148 southern junior league team, Sophie was also selected for the Basketball NSW Talented Athletes program. Her achievements didn't stop there; representing the Razorback zone and the South Western Sydney Primary School Sports Association team, with whom she travelled to Tamworth. The president of the association, Mick Hendricks, proudly stated that this season was the most successful in the group's history. Additional highlights include the under-16 boys southern junior league team, who claimed the title of division three champions. Looking ahead, a new girls' representative pathway program has launched, backed by She Hoops. This effort aims to provide more opportunities for young talent, exemplified by the upcoming session with basketball star Lauren Jackson on September 5. It's inspiring to see our local sports community go from strength to strength.
