Media Release - Dilly Business Brekkie to bring together Businesses, State and Local Government in Wollondilly Shire

16th August 2023.

Dilly Business Brekkie to bring together Businesses, State and Local Government in Wollondilly Shire.

All Wollondilly business owners and their employees are invited to enjoy a free breakfast, find out more about health and wellbeing, and celebrate their contribution to the region’s economy for R U OK? Day this year.

The Dilly Business Brekkie will be hosted by Wollondilly Shire Council, Picton Chamber of Commerce, The Office of Judy Hannan MP and The Rapid Relief Team.

It will run from 6am to 10am on Thursday 14 September at Victoria Park, Menangle Street, Picton and is an opportunity for local businesses and workers to catch up with each other and to link into local health and wellbeing and business services.

Mayor Matt Gould said, “This is a great opportunity to acknowledge the work of our local businesses and their input into our region’s economy, while taking some time to focus on mental
health.”

“As part of R U OK? Day we want to make sure everyone has the resources they need to stay healthy and have those important conversations with their workmates and staff. We will have
information available at the breakfast about some of the health and wellbeing services that are available.”

“I encourage you to grab your colleagues and team members and drop in on your way to work for a free hot brekkie, coffee or tea and pastries.”

Local member, Judy Hannan MP said, "I am very proud to personally sponsor the R U OK? Business Brekkie to give this opportunity for Wollondilly workers to come together and share a
space to become connected and have conversations highlighting mental illness.”

“With one in five Australians affected by mental illness each year, it really is the silent invisible pandemic and R U OK? Day is another opportunity to bring this issue to light. With over half of those affected by mental illness in Australia untreated, we need to ensure services are wide reaching and work in partnership with existing channels.”

“Locally, every day we should come together more often, work together and be there for each other. Thank you to Council and to Picton Chamber for supporting this initiative."

President of the Picton Chamber of Commerce Geoff O’Brien said that the Chamber was delighted to be part of the Business Brekkie.

“RU OK? is the start of a conversation that could change a life. Let’s take some time to check our work mates and colleagues are okay and equipped to start that conversation.”

“Whether you work from home, an office, or you’re out and about, make Thursday 14 September the day you bring your team for breakfast and a chat.”

“Every industry, every worker, every manager is welcome,” he said.
