Community Recognition - ANZAC Day 2024

7 May, 2024.

ANZAC Day commemorates that immortal day when the young men of Australia by their deeds and sacrifice demonstrated to the world at Gallipoli that Australia was truly a nation. We remember the sacrifice of men and women for an ideal, for a way of life, in places far from home during conflicts in WWI and WWII, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam, in the Gulf, Rwanda, Somalia, Iraq, Timor and Afghanistan, as well as the many other peacekeeping operations. Let us take strength in the knowledge and hope that our sons and daughters will never forget the example set by their forebears. I was honoured and moved to attend many of the ANZAC Day services in my electorate along with my team, including Dawn Services Hill Top War Memorial Hall and Picton-Thirlmere Bargo Sub Branch RSL, and services hosted by Colo Vale Community Association, Taara Gardens Retirement Village & Agris Hutrof House, Bargo Sports Club, Warragamba ANZAC Committee, Mittagong RSL Club Sub Branch, Picton ANZAC Day Committee, Oakdale Workers Club and Bowral RSL Club Sub Branch. I am proud of the youth of Wollondilly for the moving ceremonies held at St Anthony's School, Picton High School and Thirlmere Public School.
