When elected the Loop Line project was in a state of delay. The scope of the project had grown to include things not originally considered at the cost of things that were promised, like the Hill Top Station. The project was also sitting waiting for environmental studies to be completed. Due to this delay and cost blow out engaged with Transport Heritage and the Government in July 2024 with a formal budget bid for the completion of the project and a request for consultation with the community which took place in August 2024.
I am very pleased the Government has listened to my concerns regarding the Loop Line project with the funding for the project has been extended to include the upgrades promised to the community and I am pleased Transport Heritage is delivering the project originally promised.
6.5m has been allocated to the Picton Loop Line project. Payments will be made by way of milestones and the initial payment of $3.5m was made on 12 May 2025.
