Bargo Men's Shed has stepped in to help Wollondilly resident Kathleen and her husband, who needed a ramp to access their home due to mobility challenges. When Kathleen reached out for help through ABC Radio National and then my office, Bargo Men's Shed did not hesitate. Dave Clayton and the members rolled up their sleeves and built the ramp, giving Kathleen and her husband safe and accessible entry to their home. This is a powerful example of what makes Wollondilly, Macarthur and the Southern Highlands such special places to live. Our community spirit, kindness and willingness to help each other are wonderful. I thank Kathleen for having the courage to call in, and I especially acknowledge the Bargo Men's Shed for its generosity and skill, and for making such a difference to that family's daily life. Bargo Men's Shed has provided a hub for connection and belonging, and a space to work on practical projects. I am grateful for the work of its members in keeping the shed thriving and welcoming. Stories like this remind us that when government, community and volunteers work together, we can achieve practical, life‑changing outcomes.
