Community Recognition - Bowral Dressage Club Awarded Grant

6th June, 2024.

Bowral Dressage Club has been awarded a Level the Playing Field grant of $1,119,041 from the NSW government for a new club house. Bowral Dressage Club has played a vital role in our community for over 40 years, and the proposed clubhouse project is a commendable initiative that aligns with the Club's dedication to fostering inclusivity and accessibility. The consolidation of facilities on the Bong Bong Racecourse not only enhances the convenience for members, but will also increase the capacity of the Club to host a range of events and provide better access for riders with physical or intellectual disabilities attending para-equestrian classes. I am particularly pleased to see the Club's dedication to supporting the broader community by opening the clubhouse as an evacuation centre during emergencies, with Bong Bong Racecourse used as a large animal evacuation point. The Bowral Dressage Club is actively contributing to promote gender equality in sports, support disabled athletes and LGBTQI+ communities, with 80 per cent of the committee being female, and the club providing a welcoming environment for all members.
