Community Recognition - Colin Miller OAM

14th May, 2025.

Colin Miller was a true gentleman whose kind and generous nature made a lasting impression on our Wollondilly community, and I, like so many others, am sad to hear of his passing at age 99. Colin carried on after his wife Joan passed away and is remembered by his children Colleen and Annie and their husbands, his four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Colin’s many life achievements and volunteer contributions stretch back years, starting with his dedication to the Rural Fire Service. Colin joined the Tahmoor Brigade in 1940 and shared his knowledge and experience with fellow firefighters, Colin embodied the RFS values of professionalism, compassion and commitment, and captured the history of the Wollondilly RFS in a published book. Colin was a foundation member of Rotary Club of Picton, and hosted many exchange students who remember him fondly.

He was in the Royal Australian Air Force for two years and received awards from the National Trust, Wollondilly Shire Council, Sydney Legacy, Scouts, RFS and Picton Rotary Club.

Colin’s legacy of warmth and wisdom will live on and he will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues and the community that he contributed so much to.
