Community Recognition - Evelyn McDonald

27th June, 2025.

Evelyn McDonald has been a lifelong resident of Wollondilly and I am delighted to congratulate Evelyn on her most recent accolade, the prestigious Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to community groups, Wollondilly Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Centre and Meals on Wheels

In the 1970s, she served as Treasurer of the Tahmoor Primary School P and C Association before working for many years in the office at Bargo Primary School. A lifelong equestrian, Evelyn joined the Wollondilly Pony Club in 1976, serving as Treasurer until 1985. She then took up the role of Treasurer for the RDA Centre in Tahmoor—a position she continues to hold to this day.

Together with her late husband Alex, Evelyn volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Picton for twenty years. In 2018, she was honoured with Life Membership of the Wollondilly Centre, proudly wearing her badge at all RDA events. Earlier this year she received the Wollondilly Senior Award and was named Senior Citizen of the Year at the Wollondilly 2025 Australia Day Awards. Wollondilly is grateful for her dedicated service to the community and I extend my sincere thanks to Evelyn for all she does.
