I am pleased to see Gaye's community environmental advocacy work in the Southern Highlands community and region was recognised at the annual NSW Women of the Year Awards recently. Gaye is a founding and driving force behind community climate organisation WinZero and played a central role in the organisation's development since its inception. Currently serving as Deputy Chair and Communications Director, Gaye has been instrumental in building the organisation's operational and digital foundations. Her efforts raise awareness of environmental issues for varying ages from young school students to seniors. Her work has helped bring major community initiatives to life, including Fossil OFF! Home Energy Retrofits, the Virtual Energy Network Pilot, Earth Hour events, renewable energy education programs and the Southern Highlands Futures Forum and development of a regenerative Highlands Homegrown Economy in the Highlands. Her advocacy extends to wildlife protection, national park expansion, riparian restoration, and community campaigns to protect significant local environments including Mt Gibraltar Heritage Reserve. Gaye White's Wollondilly Local Woman of the Year 2026 award reflects her tireless dedication to community, environment and local leadership. Her work continues to inspire positive environmental action and community collaboration across the Southern Highlands and Wollondilly region.
