Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending the start of an enormous weekend for the inaugural Horizontal Festival. The name Horizontal says it all: it's about a line of connection, linking growers and producers directly with consumers. In the wine world, "horizontal" carries a special meaning: tasting wines from the same grape variety and vintage, but made by different producers or regions. That sense of connection is also something I value deeply in my role as State Member for the stunning Wollondilly electorate, being a connector, helping people, solving problems, and advocating for what matters. I also want to acknowledge the support from the NSW Government in helping bring this event to life The Horizontal Festival is an exciting new addition to the NSW major events calendar, one that not only celebrates the very best of our food, wine, music, and culture, but also delivers real economic benefits for our region by fostering local jobs, strengthening the visitor economy, and creating social and cultural opportunities for all generations. A big thank you to Amanda Fry, festival director, and her hardworking inspiring team, And of course, to Centennial Vineyards, the most wonderful host for this festival.
