I was sad to hear of his recent passing of Gary Avis. Gary is known in Bowral for his immense and long standing contributions to the Bowral Rugby Club. My thoughts are with his friends and loved ones including his children Michelle and Kylie, and grandchildren Ben, Charlie and Ava.
Gary’s participation in the Bowral Rugby Club included being on the committee of the club for eight years, volunteering countless hours of his time over the years to support the club and the players. He stayed on as a volunteer with the club after his time on the committee, contributing greatly to the rugby community in the Southern Highlands. One of his lasting legacies will be the role he played in securing the funding for Stages 2 and 3 of the club's development. Gary was also a supporter of the 4K initiative, seeing his contributions extend beyond rugby to the benefit of the wider community.
My condolences to Gary’s family and friends. Gary will be remembered for his commitment, selflessness and community spirit.
