Community Recognition - Lance Corporal Frederick Francis Denny OAM

1st August 2023.

"In July, we gathered to remember and honour the life of Lance Corporal Frederick Francis Denny OAM, NX239511, who peacefully passed away at the age of 100 on 16th July 2023. Lance Corporal Denny, a revered member of our community, left a lasting impact through his dedicated service and unwavering commitment. As a life member of the 55/53rd Mice of Moresby AIF and a founding member of the Picton Thirlmere Bargo RSL, Lance Corporal Denny exemplified the values of camaraderie and selflessness. His profound contributions to these organisations will forever be cherished. Lance Corporal Denny's legacy extends beyond his military service. He was a beloved husband to Myrtle (dec), a devoted father to Robbie and Malcolm, and a respected figure in our community. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and palliative care staff at Bowral Hospital, as well as the Thompson and Davis families, the Picton Thirlmere Bargo RSL Sub Branch, his neighbours, and the wider Thirlmere and Wollondilly community for their support during his final months. In remembrance of Lance Corporal Frederick Francis Denny, a public memorial service was held at Thirlmere Cemetery on the afternoon of Saturday, July 29. In lieu of flowers, donations will be collected on the day to benefit NRMA Careflight, a charity close to Lance Corporal Denny's heart, dedicated to providing critical medical attention to infants and children in need. As we bid farewell to Lance Corporal Frederick Francis Denny, let us carry his spirit of service and community with us. May his memory inspire us to honour his legacy and continue to build a strong and compassionate community."
