Of Marjo Hallowell, it was written in Good Morning Macarthur that ‘you name it, she’s done it’. She has been a journalist, a historian, a volunteer, and a community advocate. Now, we can add ‘individual community champion’ to Marjo’s list of honours.
On 6 February this year, Marjo was awarded the Clean Up Australia Individual Community Champion Award at Parliament House in Canberra. This is well-deserved recognition for her efforts to clean up Australia and to ensure that the beautification of the Southern Highlands continues for future generations.
Of this honour, Marjo writes that she was ‘honoured and humbled’ when she received the award. She is thankful to Ian Kiernan for starting this initiative and to Pip Kiernan for continuing it. Marjo is inspired by the stories of the past and is confident in the future of Clean Up Australia.
Congratulations, Marjo, and thank you for your continued service to our community.
