Community Recognition - Menangle Men's Shed

9th September, 2025.

The sense of camaraderie, social inclusion, friendship and belonging within the Menangle Men's Shed is truly uplifting. I was welcomed to visit the Shed in August to share my insights as a Member of the NSW Parliament and to hear about the great work that the members are doing. I valued the opportunity to hear firsthand about the issues that matter most and the priorities and policy you'd like to see addressed. For each member, the Shed may carry its own special meaning, yet what unites everyone is a genuine enthusiasm for building, fixing, and lending your skills to community projects. One member aged 91 shared how life changing it has been for him, after he finally joined with his family's encouragement, 22 years after his retirement. The Australian Men's Shed Association [AMSA], established in 2007, by a collection of Australian independent community-based Men's Sheds to represent, support and promote the Men's Shed movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a Men's Shed. It acts as a central hub for information exchange. Well done Menangle Men's Shed on living the values of the AMSA.
