9th August, 2024.
On Thursday 1 August, I was privileged to attend the latest installation of the 2024 Speaker Series for the Oxley College Centre for Ethics. This installation was presented by one of Australia's most loved and respected journalists, the one and only Leigh Sales AM. Leigh talked about life lessons learned from 30 years at the media frontline, from ordinary people in extraordinary situations to the world‑famous celebrities that she has met. Leigh also provided reflections on resilience, self-doubt, and transformation. Leigh is as brilliant in person as she is on the television screen or on the Chat 10, Looks 3 podcast with her partner in crime Annabel Crabb. The highlight of the event for me was, when asked which politicians are the best to interview, Leigh said independents are the best to interview because we have no party line and can be unpredictable. Leigh also took the time to have a meet and greet afterwards, during which many books were signed, including my copy of her latest book, Storytellers. Leigh is a credit to her profession, and I very much enjoyed the opportunity to hear her insights from a most distinguished career.
