Community Recognition - Patrick Nellenstein

25th March, 2026.

Patrick is the founder and director of the River Road Creative Academy in Tahmoor and the Moss Vale Arts Factory. These organisations provide lessons in musical instruments, song writing, singing, weekly band drop-in sessions for youth, photography and art, and programming. Patrick has used his expertise to provide opportunities at local events for youth to experience live performances and show off their talent. He is the director and producer of the River Fest. Each year, students work from across music, film, coding and robotics, visual art, and urban art projects are showcased at River Fest. This creative arts festival is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the students' progress and achievements while introducing community programs and groups. He is also supportive of encouraging inclusive access to music by all people regardless of their culture, background, circumstances or abilities. Patrick has the ability to interact with people of all ages from the very young to the very old. Patrick also is responsible for providing music therapy for children in state government care - an incredibly challenging task. Patrick is a true inspiration in the local community and should be congratulated for his nomination for Australia Day Local Hero award.
