Community Recognition - Pheasants Nest Rural Fire Brigade 50th Anniversary

13th February, 2025.

On the afternoon of Saturday 30 November 2024, I had the honour of attending the 50th anniversary celebration of the Pheasants Nest Rural Fire Brigade, which was a wonderful occasion to reflect and celebrate the outstanding contributions of past and present members. A big thank you to Terry Lewis for organising such a successful and memorable event. Established in 1974 by 15 local residents, the Brigade has grown into a vital emergency service that safeguards our community and responds to challenges across the region. This milestone brought together guests from the Rural Fire Service, Wollondilly Council, and many Brigade members and supporters. Captain Max Lazarus proudly shared stories of the Brigade's achievements, and we all enjoyed reminiscing about the past 50 years. A heartfelt congratulations to June Ingleson on being awarded life membership for her tireless service since joining in 1985. June has held multiple leadership roles including Brigade President, and has been instrumental in countless activities. Her dedication is truly inspiring and deeply appreciated by everyone. Lastly, my gratitude goes to the families, friends, and employers who support these volunteers. Here's to the next 50 years of courage, commitment and community.
