Picton District Branch Country Women's Association have been nominated for the Local Hero (Community Group) Award in the 2026 Wollondilly Shire Council Australia Day Awards for the far-reaching contributions to the community. Their members contribute their time and effort to Wollondilly Council Native Nursery, Lodge Picton, QV Nursing Home, Picton Agriculture Society, Picton High School, and Community Links, ensuring that activities and fundraisers are successful. Picton District Branch CWA has steadfastly helped to improve the lives of those in Wollondilly and beyond. Initially established as Picton CWA in 1936, it re-opened as Picton District Branch CWA in recognition of the members that are drawn from areas surrounding Picton. The women who are members too represent a continuing legacy of volunteering and fundraising for the betterment of the community.
