20th March, 2025.
I was honoured to join the members of the Royal Aero Club of New South Wales at the formal dinner for the annual Flying Training Camp at Camden Airport in January.
This flagship program engages young people ages 14 and up, many with no flying experience, toward their first solo flight. It embodies the best of the aviation industry, with 35 youth beginning their careers while immersed in aviation for 9 days. The training was highly effective, with some students gaining enough experience and confidence to be ready to fly solo.
Volunteers from diverse backgrounds dedicate their time to ensure the best start for these student pilots. The formal dinner wraps up the program, celebrating the students' achievements and recognising the outstanding volunteers. The Royal Aero Club training paves the way for the next generation of pilots and aviators, fostering leadership, integrity, and lifelong friendships among its participants.
