Community Recognition - Sharlah-May Nayagodamu

Sharlah-may has achieved a lot in her young life. In 2025, she represented Tahmoor Public School in various sporting events, including the Sydney South West Rugby 7's, Sydney South West Orienteering Championships,Girls Rugby League, and the Athletic Zone Championship. She also competed in the Razorback Zone Cross Country and was an active member of the Razorback Rugby League Team. Additionally, she participated in Razorback Gala Days for touch football, basketball, and oz tag, showcasing her versatility and dedication across multiple sports. Her talent and commitment earned her selection to play in the Lloyd McDermott Indigenous Development Team at North Narrabeen, as well as the opportunity to represent Fiji in the Pasifika Cup. Other awards include Outstanding Sportsperson of the Year, Athletic Champion of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and also the 2025 Dharawal regional AECG student achievement award. She comes from a multicultural background, including Australian, Aboriginal, and Fijian heritage, and actively participates in Indigenous events such as Koori classes and sports, celebrating her roots. Sharlah-May was nominated for the Young Citizen of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year in the Wingecarribee Australia Day Awards 2026.
