Skye Leicester has been recognised for her outstanding contributions to the Southern Highlands by being awarded the Wingecarribee Citizen of the Year in Wingecarribee Shire Council's 2026 Australia Day celebrations. Skye's experience with youth mental health has driven her to improve the lives of children, which has seen her take the Bowral District Children's Foundation from its beginnings as a volunteer-run charity into a dynamic and professional organisation that has raised significant funds to support youth in the Highlands and beyond. Skye has performed her role of President with dedication and compassion. Skye's influence has extended into the community further by also being involved in initiatives to address the reduction of hospital wait times, establishing of permanent clinical roles and the involvement of local schools in mental health programs. She has tirelessly worked with many different groups in the community to hold fundraising events and create opportunities for engagement between hospitals, schools, donors, and service providers. Skye is making a real difference in our community.
