Community Recognition - Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens Education Centre

9th may, 2024.

It was an absolute pleasure to be at The Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens (SHBG) with Stephen Jones MP, Mr Viv May, Wingecarribee Shire Council, all the wonderful Volunteers, Committee and Community attendees to officially open their new Education Centre. The Southern Highlands Botanical Gardens latest project is yet another significant achievement in the development of this local attraction. The new Education Centre offers indoor and outdoor learning activities, practical gardening experiences and, immersive horticultural education, hands-on learning all year round. Benefactors Chris B and Charles M were very generous in providing additional funding support for sheds and equipment for SHBG, a community operated not-for-profit charitable company wholly run by volunteers. Well done to everyone involved and thanks to the support of volunteers, the community, and funding from both the Federal and NSW Government and support from Council, as well as the impeccable commitment of the construction team and Pitch Studio, the Education Centre was made possible. In the cool climate and often delightfully icy winter months of Southern Highlands weather, education can now take place at any time, as the Botanic Gardens welcomes the community in this beautiful new building.
