Community Recognition - Southern Highlands RFS 2025 Medal Presentation Ceremony and Tanker Handover

21 October, 2025.

Behind every medal awarded at last night's ceremony held in Mittagong, lies a story of courage, sacrifice, and countless hours of service. Birthdays and holidays missed, time away from family, and a willingness to step forward to protect neighbours, property and saving lives. From bushfires to road accidents, rescues, to hazard reduction, our RFS volunteers answer the call without hesitation. Their dedication reflects the very best of our community spirit. It was also wonderful to acknowledge the key handover of new Southern Highlands tankers for Douglas Park, Penrose, and Alpine/Aylmerton Brigades, ensuring our volunteers have the resources they need. Congratulations to the medal recipients and thank you to every RFS volunteer who gives so much to safeguard Wollondilly and the Highlands especially those who are retiring after so many years of service. Your courage and dedication reflect the very best of our community spirit. Your service reflects the very best of the RFS. It was great to see so many community leaders in attendance including Commissioner for NSW RFS Trent Curtin, Mrs Wendy Tuckerman MP, Member for Goulburn and Superintendent Daniel Osborne, Manager Southern Highlands Team.
