I'd like to give a special tribute and thanks for the excellent performances of the Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra [SHSO]. The orchestra is led by Dr. Allan Stiles, artistic director and chief conductor, and recent recipient of a 2025 Seniors Awards. Professional composer and musician William Howard was the featured soloist on cello. I was impressed with the entire program of Autumn Concert Series 1 and earlier in the week, I really enjoyed hearing from Dr. Allan Stiles about his lifetime of work with young, talented musicians. He founded the Western Youth Orchestra now Sydney Northern Youth Orchestra, the Beecroft Orchestra, and the SHSO alongside Roma Dix OAM. Dr. Stiles invites and encourages young college and school students from around the district to attend rehearsals and practice sessions to gain experience playing in a formal group. Thank you to the Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra for sharing your musical talents and for your inspiring performances.
