It is wonderful to see St Mark's Picton Anglican Church reach its 175 year milestone in early July. There is so much to celebrate in the unique history of this beautiful little Church. The foundation stone for St Mark's was laid on 16th July 1850. Construction was delayed by the gold rush but the church was completed and consecrated in 1856. Reverend Ben Boardman has put his heart and soul into this parish during his time there, and led the celebration making it a great day for the community. Parishioner Charles Dunn read a moving poem he wrote, and Anita and Barbara who cut the cake were both present at the 100 year celebration, 75 years ago. Construction of a Columbarium wall will begin later this year and will be built to form a boundary along the edge of the cemetery. St Mark's enduring presence in Picton is a comfort to members of the church and the wider community. May St Mark's continue to welcome those in need or looking to connect for many more years to come.
