The Country Women's Association Bowral Branch celebrated its centenary with the unveiling of a plaque on its rooms and buildings adjacent to Corbett Gardens, Bowral, commemorating 100 years of service, friendship and community support. The plaque was kindly donated by Margaret Smith, OM. The event was especially significant, as the United Nations is recognising the International Year of the Woman Farmer, celebrating the vital role women play in agriculture, rural communities and food production. We were privileged to hear from guest speaker Annette O'Donnell, a Southern Highlands beef cattle farmer. It was wonderful to recognise and celebrate the many women farmers across our shire who successfully run their farms and properties, contributing enormously to our local economy, community and agricultural sector. It was also wonderful to share the afternoon with the Bowral High School Interact club.
