After almost two decades of service to the Regional Academies of Sport and the South West Sydney Academy of Sport [SWSAS], Gerry Knights has retired as the CEO. During his period as CEO, Gerry oversaw a significant period of growth, ensuring that thousands of local athletes from various sports received the support they deserved to pursue their talents. Thanks to Gerry's leadership, those young athletes have had access to clear pathways to national and State representations via elite coaching and education programs. Gerry has dedicated a large proportion of his career to community sport. Prior to being CEO of SWSAS, he was a dedicated employee of Campbelltown City Council as the manager of Healthy Lifestyles, in which he championed major community health, recreation and participation initiatives. His contributions have been honoured with the awarding of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his passion for athlete development and community sport. I have valued Gerry's contributions and enjoyed working with him to ensure that our young athletes reached high standards and achieved their potential. His retirement is a massive loss, but we appreciate his long service.
