Community Recognition Statement - Macarthur 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer

22nd October, 2026.

I extend my congratulations to those involved in this year's 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur. The event brings together participants from across the region, and supporting the event has always meant a lot to me. The fundraising movement exists to provide money directly to the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the oncology ward and paediatric ambulatory care unit at Campbelltown Hospital, and the palliative care unit and associated outreach service at Camden Hospital, for the extra services and equipment they need to assist in the treatment, care and comfort of children and adults dealing with cancer, many of whom are from our area. It was wonderful to see the community spirit at the event, with the dedication of volunteers, generous donations from sponsors and ongoing support from registered teams, new and old. Well done to the organisers, volunteers, sponsors and the many not-for-profit community organisations and participants who dedicated countless hours of planning and preparation to make it another successful year. Their signature event, "The Big Walk", commenced at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday and continued until 10.00 a.m. on Sunday.
