Community Recognition Statement - Mrs Marjorie Woodfield

3rd June, 2026.

Last week I had the great pleasure of visiting centenarian Mrs Marjorie Woodfield in her Mittagong home to celebrate her remarkable 100th birthday. We could have spoken for hours. Marjorie shared with me that throughout her life she has always loved connecting with people, and that whenever she spoke with someone she made it her mission to leave them smiling and laughing. Her advice to all was simple but powerful: spread kindness, make people smile and always end a conversation on a positive note. I think we can all learn something from Marjorie's beautiful outlook on life. Marjorie is also a talented artist, with many of her lovely watercolour paintings proudly displayed throughout her home. Over the years, Marjorie has lived in many parts of New South Wales and she shared stories of a wonderful life with her late husband and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was filled with cards, tributes and flowers from loved ones, which she proudly showed me during my visit. I wish Marjorie a happy 100th birthday and continued happiness, good health and special moments in the years ahead.
