Community Recognition Statement - PARLIAMENT OF NSW REGIONAL ROADSHOW IN BOWRAL

PARLIAMENT OF NSW REGIONAL ROADSHOW IN BOWRAL

Mrs JUDY HANNAN (Wollondilly)—On 11 June 2026, the Parliament of NSW hosted regional roadshows in seven locations including Bowral. I welcomed 14 Public Speakers and 42 Youth Forum students from government and private schools. I was really pleased to welcome the Democracy on the Move Roadshow to Wollondilly and the Southern Highlands this year. The Regional Roadshow included a public speaking competition and a youth forum which provided students with a platform to showcase their communication skills and confidence. Students involved in the Youth Forum identified a range of issues that directly affect their daily lives and future prospects. Students identified concerns about the rising cost of living, housing affordability, mental health and wellbeing, bullying and online harm, climate change, safety and crime. Finally, students highlighted the need for better access to services, facilities, and youth spaces, including accessible infrastructure and services that help young people feel connected and supported. I commend all students for participating in the Regional Roadshow and congratulate William N from Wollondilly Anglican College who won first place and Luciana K from St Paul's International Moss Vale who came second in the Public Speaking Competition.
