Community Recognition Statement - Rotary Club of Picton 60th Anniversary

Mrs JUDY HANNAN (Wollondilly) (16:42): The Rotary Club of Picton celebrated an extraordinary milestone of 60 years of dedicated service to the Wollondilly community. It was chartered in 1966 and has lived by the motto of "Service above self", quietly acting as the backbone of regional support through regular fundraisers, youth mentorship, disaster assistance and its signature local sausage sizzles. Over the six decades, Picton Rotary has delivered invaluable initiatives for our area, including with "U Turn the Wheel", a road safety program for students; the annual Pride of Workmanship awards; and the Charity Golf Day at Antill Park Country Golf Course. I had the pleasure of joining its hardworking volunteers on many occasions, most recently at its regular club meetings to hear about upcoming milestone events, including its fundraising high tea for ROMAC and Little Wings. Exactly 60 years to the day the club began, we got together for a dinner. I congratulate current president Geoff Cannon. Barry Apps was there 60 years ago when it started.
