Congratulations to the Southern Highlands Concert Band on 40 years of continuous performance and contribution to the Southern Highlands community, celebrated with the 40th Extravaganza Concert on 18th May at Bowral Memorial Hall.
The anniversary concert offered a well-curated and engaging program, drawing from highlights across the band’s four-decade history—from its beginnings in 1985 to the present day. The repertoire reflected the band’s evolution and strong connection to the region.
A special acknowledgement to Musical Director Julian Paviour, who has led the band since 2016 with skill and dedication, and to Band President Mark Biasutti for his ongoing leadership.
The world premiere of Rhapsodic Ramblings by Oscar Dunn Luck was, for me, the highlight of the program—an exciting and original work that added something truly special to the occasion.
To all past and present members—thank you for your role in shaping the cultural life of the Highlands. Your presence at events like ANZAC Day, Australia Day, Tulip Time and Seniors Week has helped keep live music at the heart of our community.
A milestone truly worth celebrating.
