I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of music, community and connection at today's Festival of Bands at the Bowral Memorial Hall. It was inspiring to see musicians and community members come together from across the Wollondilly electorate for this special collaboration between the Southern Highlands Concert Band and their neighbour, the Wollondilly Community Band. The program was entertaining, varied and brilliantly performed, showcasing not only exceptional musical talent but also the strong friendships and community spirit that local bands create. The event truly lived up to the promise on the program cover: "Two Concert Bands – One Sparkling Event." It was also wonderful to see the incredible support behind both bands and the many volunteers and organisers who worked so hard to bring the performance together. I was pleased to attend with Councillors David Kent and Rachel Russell from Wingecarribee and Councillor Suzy Brandstater from Wollondilly Shire Council. Congratulations to those involved with Wollondilly Community Band, Heather Davis and Brenden Millard and Southern Highlands Concert Band, Julian Paviour. I look forward to supporting more performances and upcoming events throughout 2026.
