The spirit and connection at the Hill Top Men's Shed is genuinely inspiring. It is another example of the connection and encouragement that build communities through the participation in groups such as this, and I am grateful to them for inviting me to the shed to share my insights as a member of Parliament. I enjoyed engaging directly with the members to gain a better understanding of the challenges they faced and the policy priorities that matter most to them. While the shed may hold a unique meaning for each member, the shared passion for creating, making and repairing, as well as contributing to social projects, brings everyone together with a sense of friendship and community spirit. The Men's Shed Association is fantastic. It was begun in 2007 by a collection of Australian independent community-based men's sheds to represent, support and promote their movement. It was founded on the principle of sharing information between sheds and those communities wishing to establish and operate a men's shed. The Hill Top Men's Shed exemplifies the goals of support, learning and mateship.
