Wollondilly local and passionate road safety advocate Linda McCarthy has launched her first book, coinciding with Road Safety Week. The book "No Mucking About, Joey Calls It Out" is a children's picture book, designed to re-shape cultural attitudes towards driving violence. The story follows a young koala, Joey, making various observations about the different types of driving violence that impact drivers such as driving distracted, using a phone, speeding and hooning - taking deliberate risks whilst driving. Linda and her friend John Van Der Putte were inspired to start the charity Think of The Five, Arrive Alive, after the Buxton crash and the loss of 5 youth, John's daughter Lily was one of those five along with Summer Williams, Gabriella McLennan, Antonio Desisto and Tyrese Bechard. The charity aims to raise awareness in all drivers about driving violence, all profits from the sale of the book go to fundraising for the charity to further create a lasting cultural change. Congratulations Linda and thank you for lending your creativity and storytelling to making this important resource.
