Community Recognition Statements - Mrs Linda Emery, OAM

Congratulations to Mrs Linda Emery of Bowral, who has received the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division as part of this year's King's Birthday Honours. Mrs Emery received her honour for her service to the community of Wingecarribee. She has been a member of the Berrima District Historical and Family History Society since 1989 and has served that organisation in a variety of roles, from president to primary researcher to tour officer. Mrs Emery continues to serve the society as its archivist, curator and webmaster. She has also been a member of Wingecarribee Shire Council's Heritage Working Group and the Bong Bong Common Management Committee. From 2006 to 2017, Mrs Emery was a member of the board of governors at Oxley College, Bowral. She was also part of the research team for the SBS show Who Do You Think You Are? and currently is a freelance researcher for that program. In addition, Mrs Emery has been a councillor and volunteer for the Royal Australian Historical Society and has been the author and co-author of at least ten publications on local history.
