It really makes my day when locals drop by during sitting weeks, especially those from our schools. I give a big thank you to Picton High School captains and their teacher, Brooke Baxter, for visiting me at the Parliament of New South Wales. The students had the chance to experience question time in the Legislative Assembly and see democracy in action. Young people play such an important role in shaping our future, and I always welcome their voices, perspectives and ideas. It was inspiring to hear what matters most to them and their exciting plans for life after high school. During their visit, the students discussed the merits of voting before the age of 18 and had a great discussion regarding democracy, having a say and giving everyone a fair go. Well done to Picton High School for teaching the leaders of tomorrow to think for themselves and provide answers to some big problems. I look forward to watching the captains go from strength to strength. Perhaps a future member for Wollondilly is amongst the group!
