It was a very special Saturday morning in Wollondilly as we celebrated the official opening of the Silverdale Shopping Centre, a fantastic new addition to our growing community. This milestone is a testament to the vision, dedication and perseverance of Bruno and Maria Lopreiato, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks. Joining Bruno and Maria for this significant occasion were the Hon. John Howard, former Prime Minister of Australia; the member for Badgerys Creek and the member for Leppington; mayor Matt Gould; councillors Ally Dench, Jacqueline Jenson, Benn Banasik and Paul Rogers; Wollondilly Shire Council CEO Ben Taylor; Pania Gregson from the Wollondilly Business Chamber; Woolworths representatives; the CNA Italian organisation; and many other friends, supporters and members of the Italian community. With the Western Sydney airport set to boost regional trade, the centre now provides essential access to retail and medical services. It is a welcome change for many locals. From humble beginnings selling petrol in a small shack to this beautiful new building, I congratulate Bruno and Maria on this outstanding achievement.
