Community Recognition Statement - Southern Highlands Festival of Lights

3rd June, 2026.

The Southern Highlands Festival of Lights was a successful recipient of the 2026 Country Arts Support Program, which supports local, grass roots arts initiatives across the Southern Tablelands. Co founded by Debra Blackah and Michaela Bolzan, the festival was established to bring renewed energy, connection and vibrancy to the Highlands community. Held throughout December in Bowral's Corbett Gardens, the space is transformed into a luminous wonderland, attracting visitors and locals alike. The festival features a diverse program of family friendly events and plays an important role in promoting cultural diversity and inclusion. It acknowledges and celebrates other festivals of light observed at the same time of year, including Hanukkah and Diwali, helping to foster a broader appreciation of cultural traditions within the community. Run by the community for the community, the festival continues to grow in both scale and impact. CASP funding will support organisers as they prepare for the 2026 program and build on the event's success. This is always an amazing event for the Southern Highlands.
