Community Recognition Statements - Southern Highlands Future Forum

10th September, 2025.

In August I was pleased to attend the Southern Highlands Future Forum on sustainable building, an inspiring and informative community event hosted by the Wingecarribee Shire Council in partnership with WinZero, or Wingecarribee Net Zero Emissions. Now in its second year, this free public forum brought together experts and professionals from across the sustainable building sector to share insights and practical knowledge with the local community. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about a range of topics, including natural design principles, passive solar design, circular economy practices, insulation standards, retrofitting techniques, and the critical role of thermal performance in Passivhaus construction. The event highlighted the importance of sustainable design in shaping resilient and energy‑efficient communities. I extend my sincere thanks to the presenters, including Andy Marlow, Laura Hamilton‑O'Hara, Susan Stannard, Wingecarribee Shire Council, Rhys Howard, Dr Alan Green and the University of Wollongong. Their contributions made this event a valuable resource for residents and professionals alike.
