Community Recognition Statements - Thirlmere Festival of Steam

29th May, 2025.

A fantastic day was had at the Thirlmere Festival of Steam. I congratulate and thank everyone who made the much-loved event such a success once again. It was a pleasure to meet and catch up with so many locals and visitors at our mobile office and charging station. I thank everyone who stopped by to chat, share their thoughts and celebrate all that makes our community special. I think we gave away more than 70 kilograms of apples during the day. The event brings together train enthusiasts, history fans and families looking for an enjoyable day trip. The highlights included real steam trains, vintage equipment and engaging exhibits, entertainment and family-friendly fun all weekend. The NSW Rail Museum continues to be a central part of Thirlmere's identity and plays a significant role in preserving the history of rail in New South Wales and across Australia. The festival proudly showcases that legacy while bringing joy to people of all ages. I am already looking forward to next year's celebration of heritage, steam and community spirit.
