Community Recognition Statements - Wingecarribee Art Prize for Landscape

4th June, 2026.

I am pleased to recognise the winners and finalists of the 2026 Wingecarribee Landscape Prize, held at the Bowral Art Gallery. Congratulations to Pamela Honeyfield, awarded First Prize for her work Windscript. As noted by the judge, her sweeping, fresh brushwork was "so evocative of the bush," capturing the essence of the landscape without the need for specific visual reference. Second Prize was awarded to Paul Gorjan for Katoomba #2, a work that beautifully captured the stillness and atmosphere of a hillside town, while Highly Commended awards were presented to Jame Wei, Janene Vella, Zoe Sernack and Alita Knaggs for their outstanding contributions. I also acknowledge those artists awarded Commended, including Nic Mason, Julie Brunton, Harvey Cassie, Phillip Russell and Rod Smart. This exhibition continues to showcase the depth of artistic talent inspired by our natural and built landscapes, with entries drawn from across the region and beyond. My sincere thanks to the hardworking judge Robyn Kinsela, curator Kim Shannon, the Bowral and District Art Society, and Wingecarribee Shire Council for their generous sponsorship. I encourage everyone to visit this outstanding exhibition and support our local arts community.
