It is always a highlight when local students visit the New South Wales Parliament during a sitting week. I was delighted to welcome the legal studies students from Wollondilly Anglican College as part of the Legal Studies and the Legislature program. The group began their visit with a Q and A session at the New South Wales Parliament education centre, where we explored the democratic process. The students asked thoughtful and insightful questions, particularly around the role of an Independent member in Parliament and the importance of community advocacy. They then observed question time in the Legislative Assembly, gaining firsthand experience of parliamentary proceedings. We also discussed key issues affecting Wollondilly, including the urgent need for the Picton bypass, stronger protections for native wildlife and habitats, and the ongoing lack of reliable public transport in the region. I was impressed by the students' engagement and curiosity. Their voices and perspectives are vital to the future of our democracy, and I encourage all young people to take an active interest in politics and public service. I thank the Wollondilly Anglican College students for visiting Parliament and I look forward to welcoming them again.
