20th November, 2024.
Remembrance Day holds a significant place in our calendar. It is a time to reflect and a time to remember. Every year we pause at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to commemorate the sacrifice made by those Australians who have served in conflict. Wollondilly electorate Remembrance Day services took place at Thirlmere Memorial Park, hosted by Wollondilly Sub-Branch RSL; Picton Memorial Park, hosted by Picton Anzac Day Committee; Taara Gardens and Agris Hutrof House in Thirlmere; Mittagong RSL, hosted by the Mittagong RSL Sub-Branch; Bowral War Memorial; and Warragamba Memorial Park. We have lots of services. I was honoured to attend the Warragamba service this year along with Wollondilly councillors Ally Dench, Trish Hill and Hilton Gibbs. I thank the Warragamba ANZAC Committee for inviting me. Remembrance Day is always special to me and so many others. It evokes so many memories for so many people. Supporting serving members, veterans and their families is important to do every day, not just on Remembrance Day. Lest we forget.
