In April I had the pleasure of attending the South West Sydney Academy of Sport Athletes Reception at the Performing Arts Centre in Picton. It was wonderful to see so many incredible young athletes striving for their ultimate goals along with their dedicated coaches and training staff. SWSAS outcompetes other sports academies across the state with a much higher percentage of its athletes reaching Olympic and Commonwealth Games eligibility. The sustained efforts of the organisation is seeing young athletes achieving their reporting goals, and enabling greater participation in organised sports. I look forward to seeing many of these young athletes in Brisbane at the 2032 Olympics, as they continue their journey to sporting achievement.
