Community Recognition - The Bowral Classic 2025

23rd October, 2025.

I was honoured to fire the starting gun for the 2025 Bowral Classic cycling event! Events like this shine a spotlight on our region and bring so many people together to enjoy the Southern Highlands. It was wonderful to see so many enthusiastic cyclists competing in this year's event. Since the inaugural event in 2016, the Bowral Classic has become one of the premier events in the road cycling calendar. Set against the stunning backdrop of NSW's iconic Southern Highlands, the Bowral Classic showcases some of the most beautiful scenery you can experience on two wheels. Riders set out at the iconic Bong Bong St starting line in Bowral, before winding through the country roads and rolling hills of the Southern Highlands' most iconic towns including Berrima, Moss Vale, Bundanoon, Robertson and Mittagong. Thousands of riders completed the three road cycling courses ranging from 85kms to 150kms. It was great to be there for a very early start along with Mark Buttigieg MLC, Wingecarribee Councillor Nicole Smith and James Yaffa from Bicycling Australia and the dedicated hardworking events team that make this event possible.
